Congrats man! You found the right place. You will get some folks busting your ***** here but most are helpful. As is required etiquette here, we need some pics man. I was without a bike for a long time before I bought my Ultra and it too is the heaviest bike I've ever owned. Just take your time and you feel comfortable in no time.

Ball busting is totally expected. I'm just here to learn everything I can from other's successes and failures. It's a lot easier than working my way through all of them myself.

I was going to hold off on the pictures until it was in my possession and I could take my own, but since you twisted my arm...

Welcome from NE Oregon!! I had a rather lengthy hiatus myself...my first 'return' bike was also the HD RK Classic...you are going to be just fine. I don't like 'mandated' helmet laws...but I personally choose to wear a full face helmet and leathers. To me, my soldiers and I always wore every piece of protective gear when going into combat zones...I consider the public highways as the equivalent...they are trying to kill us. So why not wear the gear...that is my personal preference. I choose not to judge those that don't, as long as they afford me the same respect for my choices.

That's a great philosophy to have. The "hope for the best and prepare for the worst" is kind of my thinking regarding safety as well. Like you, I'm not a fan of helmet laws, while I'm at it I'll throw BSL's and seatbelt laws in there too.

Thank you for the welcome and your service.

Congrats on the bike and welcome! BTW, I wear a full face helmet as well and so do the other two Harley's that I ride with. To each their own.

Welcome we are glad to have you. You are in the right place for all kinds of questions and the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Welcome to the forum from Levittown, PA.

Full face only, even from behind a windshield... not good looking either but in an accident, why the hell would I want to look (or, chance function) worse? Welcome back to riding fun. And on a RK... r u trying to make me jealous?
