Howdy! From Taylor, TX (just say, Austin)
Howdy all, Just join-up so I can start learning BEFORE I dip into the wallet.
Wife and I have been watching Sons of Anarchy and decided we want some of this life...all that riding, and partying, and shooting and drinking, and "socializing" and riding and cuss'n and fightning and riding, and being all close-nit and stuff.
Uhhh... that's my weak excuse for telling a joke.
Seriously, She's been wanting a Harley for years and we're getting close to being able to fulfil her dream. I'm a member of many other forums and find them an increadible resource for information, advice, and just general BS.
It's gonna be a hobby. A great way to have some fun. Wind in our hair, bugs in our teeth, smelling the air, tasting the pavement (rarely I hope)...basicly living life OUTSIDE the bubble. (one of the reasons I love my Jeep).
We arent poser wanna-be's. But we also arent cool enough to be "real bikers" lol. Just casual riders.
So, now you know about us.
Get to teach'n !!!
LMAO.... Oh yeah.... and I'm prone to efforts of levity and humor.

Thats why I jumped into the forum now.
I've heard that this is the season for shopping.
The half-hearted are putting their up for sale before it gets too cold to ride.
At least, thats what I hear.
Craigslist hast lots to choose from. Problem is... I dont have a clue what to look for in a beginner bike....for a woman.
My knowled of motorcycles is limited to basicly two things:
A) MOST of them have two wheels.
B) NONE of them have training wheels.
Eventually she wants something in the 1100-1200 cc range. But I thnk that may be a bit beefy at first.
So I come here.....desperately hoping to learn from those who have gone down this past before us.
Lead on.....

My humble opinion... take the Rider Safety Course before buying... test ride at your local dealer... try all the bikes see what fits.... get her started on a Dyna.
Look long before buying...
