Default frustrated

I just replaced the starter solenoid in my 73 sporty iron head 1000. When attempting to start it was grinding. I know if the battery is low it will grind. Im hopping this is the problem. The through out gear was just replaced and worked fine until having to replace the solenoid.... Did i do anything wrong?....Any advice?

the solenoid engages the starter. the gears and/or bearings is usually what makes a grinding noise,

read through this as it should help Ya.
