Ahoy-hoy from Toronto!
Hello! Just thought I'd pop in and say 'hi'! Hopefully some time next week (depends on the shipment) I will be the proud owner of an '08 Sportster 1200L. I actually never thought I'd become an HD owner, or at least become one this soon!
This is my 3rd season riding (unless you count my college years on a 50cc moped), and I've owned a GZ250 and a Ninja 650R. 2 totally different styles of bikes, or course. I've been on the fence as to which way I want to go in terms of a style of bike. I honestly thought I'd stick with the Ninja (sporty standard seating position), until I went on an HD demo ride earlier this season. I rode a Nighster, Iron 883, and a Fatboy Low. I loved them all! I couldn't get over how easy they were to ride, as I was mainly concerned with size and weight due to the fact that I'm 5'2" and 110lbs soaking wet.
And then patski (spouse) got the Street Bob and it all went downhill from there. I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I realized that when I started riding I originally wanted a Harley, and I don't think I'm going to be truly satisfied until I have one. I never really loved the Ninja the way that others truly love their bike. And why spend $$ and time on anything otherwise?
Anyways. I've been test-sitting the 1200L for 2 years now. I really feel like it 'fits'. I'm buying from a US dealer and having it shipped to my doorstep here in Toronto. I'll be sure to post obligatory pictures when it arrives!
