Thanks for the welcome, folks. You are a classy crew.
I really like the police bikes. I test rode an '05 EG with 1500 miles that was run by a local PD and was impressed. Solo seat with rack, not too loud pipes, not too much bling. My first bike was an old airhead beemer and maybe that ruined me. (That was supposed to be a smiley face. Hope I hit the right one.)
I did a search and went through about 300 responses on "police bikes". My eyes hurt.
I'm still browsing and searching and will post questions about suspension and brakes soon.
Oh, I currently have 2 Moto Guzzis, that old '83 beemer, and a '78 Suzuki that a friend gave to me-- you know, a "free" bike that ended up costing about a grand to get running again. Sigh.
All the sites that I frequent are notorious for Harley bashing, but, strangely enough, it was a couple guys on the Guzzi site who convinced me to look into buying a Harley. I'm looking forward to hanging around and learning.

Hi. I just registered. I'm not a Harley owner yet. For about 25 years now I have been one of those annoying euro-trash bike snobs.
Lately, I have been thinking more and more about Harleys and I may be ready to take the plunge. I just joined so that I can ask some dum questions and get some smart answers from experienced owners.
Thanks in advance for putting up with me. FWIW you guys are much more tolerant of other brands than I am used to. Very classy.
