I'm a new member, living in Central Florida. Part of my reason for joining is to get feedback on what type of bike might be best for me and my situation.

I am 34yo, male. I just took my rider education class (at Orlando Harley) this past weekend and passed with great scores. This is the extent of my riding experience.

I like Harley's but am not bound to start with one. I want a bike that fits my size, will be easier to learn on as a new rider, and good looking. I am 6'1" 220lb. I do not want a sport bike. I like some of the sportster family and softtails. I really don't care much for the Dyna family. I also like the Honda shadows as well.

I really welcome suggestions and tips as to what I should look for in a bike. I will likely go used but less than 6-7yr old and well maintained. If you don't have specific model suggestions, I'd like tips about what has worked or not worked for you as a new rider.

Well here's to hoping this forum will be helpful and fun!

I do believe that you should get what feels good for you to ride,Shadows are a great bike and dont cost an arm and a leg,Vulcan is a great riding bike too,I got to borrow one for a summer and that bike cruised nice.
Go to metric dealers and test ride them I would if I were you.
Good luck on the hunt for your bike

Welcome from Wisconsin! Many start out with a Sportster, but with your height Id take a second look at a Dyna Wideglide or something. Take a look at the red bike in my signature pic. It's actually a low rider. I think you'd fit ok on the Softail as well and the custom has a lighter front wheel though it feels rougher at higher speeds.

Welcome to the forum. Best money spent will be renting a few bikes that you might like. then decide. Lots of fun

Welcome from Utah

As for a first bike...First Question is how much are you looking to spend?
