Default 78 Sportster for $2100

Well here goes, I'm new to the site and to owning a cycle. I have an opportunity to buy a 78 Sportster for $2100 or less (guy that's selling says it need gaskets). I get that it's older and apart of the AMF days. I'm not an idiot, but I am not well versed in motorcycle-eese, though my narcissism generally makes me believe there's nothing I can't learn. Looking forward to having some people that know share their opinions and expertise. Thanks and God bless!

The Sportster sounds like a good start.

I owned a 76 Sportster got in 3 boxes and a frame and tins( a real basket case the whole engine was torn down to the caseing) I payed 800.00 for it put another 2k in it and sold it for 5K.
Your deal needs gaskets? not bad at all and it gets you on a HD, also a great bike to learn on and from.....you wont loose
