Thank you for serving and keeping us free
I owned an 883 and it was a good bike but it was small, my next bike was a 79 shovel head,I loved the ride over the sporty and hardly ever road the 883 anymore so I sold it.....I got what I payed for it...but it took a long time.
As for the 10 K you want to spend on bike riding gear and helmet, here in Vegas got to have insurence try to add that in too.
I found my Fat Boy for $8500 cash it was well taken care of, so check out the used side too the bad economy played a big roll for my bike I have paper work that adds up to over 30K for my Fat Boy.
Welcome !!

Welocome home my brother. Find a 5 year old Dyna you can enjoy that for a lone time. But if A sporty is in the works 2005 and newer. I am pretty sure rubber mount startted in 2005. I just took a test ride last summer on a 1200 nightster and it had some scremin eagle stuff done to it. I must say the bike rode well and ran real strong. I ride a 2002 Flht and would like a Sporty for my second bike. Realy think about a Dyna. Don over and out>>>>>>

Thanks for U service.....
Now that U asked,,,, IMO as an ole man.......the 1200 is the way to go if U stay with a sporty...
their fast and have more than enough power,, lots of 883's end up going bigger or wish they could.
At least ride or look at a Dyna or Softail,,, lots better,,,, again in my IMO.....
Seems like after a yr or two, most move up anyway.....
If U go sporty, U'll save $$$$ by buying used first......

Don't make the same mistake I did. I've been riding dirt & sport bikes for 25+ years and never considered a HD. Last few years I had a Honda ST1300 and it was a nice bike but after picking up shirts @ HD dealers (TDY's) for my son, I started to check out the bikes. Previously had probably 20 Jap bikes and now have a Street Glide. I hate I've wasted so much time without trying a Harley. Probably will never go Asian again; top notch, old school American quality.
