Not even an Owner...yet

If you are trying to "get your legs" back so to speak. I don't think that you can go wrong with a softail. The reason being as they are bottom heavy and that being said are a little better balanced IMO than is a top heavy bike such as a sportster.
I went through the same thing 9 years ago after being off of a bike for about 10 years.
Where I live in the Black Hills of SD, my softail has done my wife and I real nice. That's about all we take are 200 mile day cruises. I would recommend it.
Now I have my 99(sig. pic) and an 09 Street Glide. BTW; the 99 is for sale.
PM if interested.

Welcome & sorry to hear about your bad dealer experience...some seem to have this "high & mighty" effect on potential customers, but don't let it steer you away. For bikes, definitely look into the Softail line & feel, sit, test-drive different models. Go with what feels right & suits your style/needs. Good Luck!

For me it came down between the Softail and Road King. I rode over 300 miles of test rides before I was sure. Welcome to the Forum from Indy! You will find many opinions and hopefully knowledge here.
