Son bought his first bike
My dad had 1929 JD and then a 1932 VLD. He's gone now.
32 years ago I had a 1978 Super Glide. I used to let my dad take it out.
He could ride a bike. When my bike went back to the dealer. The mechanic comes out and says you really like to lean this bike over. Then he pointed out that half of the bolt holding the exhaust to the bike was ground off.
I told the mechanic that was my dad tossing the bike around. He did some hill climbing before the war.
Also in the Bronx, in NYC, between the Whitestone Bridge and the Throgs Neck Bridge there was a dirt race track where he raced midgets before the war.
My dad said my 78 wasn't as fast as he remembered his '32. That bike was long gone before I was on the scene. Never road one so I could not argue that with him. Though my '78 SG weighed 300 more pounds then his '32.
Though he did say my bike road more comfortable then his.
Any way with my son listening to grandpa's riding stories he had to get his own Harley. '09 Nightster. He's a good son lets me ride it when ever I want.
Makes me wish I could afford another Super Glide.
I have been reading here about 12/2008.
