New to motorcycles in general
Alright where to begin....im a little embarassed to say it, but i am the end all of all newbs. I have never ridden a bike, never started a bike, hell barely even sat on a bike. But my buddy here in CT has a 72 Sportster. And let me tell you, i want one. i am coming from a sports car background mostly, i drive a 87 mazda rx7. but i really want to learn something about these bikes. and i was really hoping that maybe someone here could at least lead me in the right direction on what sites to get good general knowledge. this is a new totally alien world for me and i am itching to get my feet wet!
so any info you all here could give me, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks all
Zak

RE: New to motorcycles in general
Zak,
The first thing I know you should do is sign up for a motorcycle safety class. This will put you on the right track and let you know if you really want to ride and feel comfortable on a bike. This is also the best way to get your license.
I bought my Harley 3 years ago after 35 years and before I rode it I took the class. I evan had the bike trailered home and kept it in the garage for a month until I took the class. I had a license but I had not ridden in all those years. It was the best thing I could have done. Don't let anyone talk you out of takng the class.....
After that you will be a better rider, feel more comfortable, and be glad you did....Honest

RE: New to motorcycles in general
well that was without a doubt my first priority. but i still would like to be able to do some research on the side just to gather some general knowledge...i mean honestly i couldnt tell by lookin at a certian model and be able to tell you what it is, i just saw his bike and i loved that clean older style. but yes first step to actually riding will be the class.
