Flhtc air shocks fitment

Default Flhtc air shocks fitment
Need to replace the shocks on my 1984 FLHTC. Plenty of takeoffs available on ebay cheap, but they all fit '97 and up. Aftermarket shocks advertise the same part # shock fitting '80 to '09 models. Anybody know any reasons why the oem ones wont fit?

Just call or Email one of the after market companys and ask them if they are the same !!!
