Checking in from snowy PA
Hey guys,
Been sneaking around here for months and finally got the time to join up. Bought my first Harley this past summer. I was looking for and older bike and after 2-3 months of searching came upon a 1980 FLH. Bike was a 1 owner and has 30,000 original miles and is mostly original. Paid 6K and think I got a good deal. Original owner was 70+ and couldn't ride anymore do to herniated disks in his back. He even gave me the original batwing fairing, the original air box. Bike was sitting for the last 7 years so it needed some attention before riding. With the help of my brother-in-law we got it running but it still needs a little work on the carb to get it running right. It has a popping in the carb at low idle/throttle and backfires while coasting to a stop. Hoping to get that fixed before spring riding starts.
My wife always said she would never ride on it but after a few short rides she was hooked. Now she is the one asking when we are going for a ride! Lucky for me she has a hard enough time on a bicycle that she won't ever need a bike of her own!
Looking forward to gaining more knowledge about shovelheads and Harleys in general from all the forum members.
