How long you been ridin'? I'll be 54 in a few weeks, and just bought my 1st Harley this past May, but I've been riding for about 6 yrs now.
If this'll be your 1st bike (not just your 1st Harley) I can tell you what I'd have done, knowing what I know now.

Hi Derek, I'm new to the site and to Harleys too, so let me know how you get on as I'm looking to pick up my first Harley after Xmas and would appreciate any pro's and con's you find along the way!
Good luck out there.

Have only been riding for just over 4 years. Currently have a Yamaha and now i'm looking to take things easy and cruise the streets
I have a car as well, so my bike is my get away from them all (including the wife) and clear the head
Looking to pay upto 12-13k
Hope that explains bit further

I'm 50, just purchased my first street bike end of August (30 yrs dirt background) stand @ 5' 8" and 175 lbs. My 2008 1200 Sporty fits me like a glove & wasn't too hard on the bank account either. It's a blast to ride (took some gettin used to though), I use it to go back & forth to work, about 40 - 45 mpg - if it ain't rainin' I'm ridin'. Welcome from Texas and ride safe.
