Looking for my 1st Harley
#21
Thank you all.
Bikersurgeon, i went to a local dealer over the week and got to take the same bike as yours out for a few miles..... Love every second of it. Like you im not going to be doing lots and lots of long miles so it felt perfect. I'm hopefully going back this weekend to test drive few more and then hopefully be able to make my choice but at the moment its looking like a fatboy!!

Buy what you want right up front.
Derek- My only suggestion is to buy the Harley that you want. Don't settle for something less. If you want a Heritage, then get one. If you settle for a Sporty, then you will eventually get that Heritage, but it will only cost you more. Harley is a great bike. I've been riding for about 30 years and I've had most of them, including a Victory. Harleys may not be best at everything, but there is just something about a Harley that no one will ever be able to duplicate. Enjoy!

1st harley
I hope you find what your looking for ! my first was a 73 sportster,Built by a friend of mine had enough nut to pull out a stump out of the ground I hope to get a pic on-site soon .I only had that for 2 years then sold it to move out of state.I got the fever about a year ago again and looked for long time,I say take your time ride as many models as you can and find the one that screams your name I let my bike find me and I turn 17 every time I leave the house on it best wishes and happy hog hunting brotha!

I got a Sportster Custom 1200 a few days before my 55th birthday last February after not riding for 37 years. It was a beautiful bike and a lot of fun, except the vibrations messed up my right hand after a day of riding. I did the trade-up deal after 10 weeks and a little over 2100 miles and got the Heritage I planned to move up to all along. I strongly considered the Road King Classic as well and gave it a good long test ride, but at 6'3" the Heritage just felt too good, and I am so glad I stuck with my first choice. If the Heritage is something you are considering, especially for solo riding, you likely will be happy with it. I have yet to talk to anyone who has or had one and wasn't very happy with it. I can't even count the number of guys who ride touring bikes now who have said they wish they still had their Heritage! I ride it to work, local roads, highways, mountains, you name it and it handles great. I did a bit over 1000 miles over a weekend to Biketoberfest in Daytona and back with a stock seat and loved every mile. I have had it for only six months, but 7500 miles. Like others are saying, it's a personal thing and depends on your size, riding style and expected use, but there's my two cents from a very happy Heritage rider.

Welcome to the forum from Ohio!!
I have been riding since I was a young teen, am now 56 - just got my first Harley this summer.... a Road King Classic.... I love riding it, but also like learning from the forum, and tinkering with it too..
