I switched from a fxdb (street bob) to an flhx. it made 2 up riding on longer trips easier for things like storage, radio, etc. but like some one before me said if smooth ride is your main concern definately test ride a clasic also. form what i understand the taller shock does make the ride a little smoother and the seat on the flhx is not as big/padded as the clasic. Can't go wrong either way though.

Major differences between the 03 and 09 even the same bike. 09 glides have a new frame.

I had a 2003 FLSTC Heritage and replaced it with a Road King Classic (same chassis as a Street Glide). In terms of ride quality, I have to to say the difference is like comparing a Cadillac suspension to a Chervolet suspension. The RKC is awesome as a tourer but the Heritage is no slouch either. I've used the Heritage as a tourer and it's also great. Truth be told, I still think the Heritage is the best looking bike made by the MOCO and one last thing about the Heritage: Like the fact that it feels that you're sitting in the bike as opposed to on it. Just my .02 cents.
