New guy from SW Virginia checking in
Hi everybody!!
I was just doing a search and some research on the MMI program offered in Orlando, this site came up, and I checked it out...thought I'd join in the fun.
I'm a medically retired US Marine combat-veteran with a little over 14 years in the Corps...I am totally disabled now but life goes on....
I have never owned a Harley, but hope to change that in a bit...I never could on active duty due to responsibilities at work, deployments, wife, kid etc. and just never had the time....now that I'm retired, most of my buddies have Harley's and I feel like the odd kid out lol....I'm fighting the VA tooth, nail, and claw now for my benefits...have a Congressman and lawyer involved now...hopefully soon I can kick these guys in the teeth and win my appeal.
I'm going to use my GI Bill benefits to fund and pay for my MMI course(s) in Orlando with both Harley electives....the post 9/11 benefits are too good to pass up. I just want to establish a good knowlege base to work on my bike and my buddies in my garage in my spare time, which is most of the time lol....being retired has its benefits.
I have thought about and invited to join the PGR, and God love you all that support it, I just can't do it....I've attended far too many memorials and couldn't get through a mission being completely honest with myself and you....I've seen the look on friends wives, kids, parents faces at funerals and memorials and am still haunted by them....it hurts too bad.
I hope to learn a ton on this site, meet up with a few of you hopefully, if nothing else to get some more friends online to chat about whatever....
Thanks.
Sam

Hi Sam,
I too want to say thanks for your service and sacrifice. 14 years is a long time to give. You are among the awesome ones who make our lives worth living. Right on!
Like you, I never owned a Harley. I finally bought one. It’s only been a week, but so far I love it. I’d like to learn how to work on it. I’ll look forward to hearing how your MMI courses turn out.
Take care brother!
Steve
