Default Hi thought I'd introduce myself.........

Hey all I'm hailing from from SW Michigan[sm=icon_cheers.gif] about 20 min east of Lake Michigan. Found this message board while searching the net for Harley's

Just bought my first Harley Tuesday....98 Springer......... My wife said to buy it so I did
[sm=hail.gif] I seem to not be able to get insurance on!! Has a custom frame that the insurance companys seam to have a fricken hissy about!?[sm=bomb.gif]

Thought I would stop in and say hey. I want to learn all I can about these bikes and if I have anything to add I'll poke my keyboard in.
Litltle about me. I have one wife..One is enough and I have three daughters. One daughter was enough; guess I screwed that up[sm=ummmmokay.gif] We are part of an orginization that rescues Boxers and find them loving homes in the state of Michigan. I have been around messege boards for about 5 years. I belong to I think 6 different boating boards. We are boating junkies and I am afraid I may be becoming a Harley junkie[sm=icon_rock.gif]
Hope to learn and add when I can.

Hi Springer,

I have a 97 Heritage Springer and an 03 Ultra classic. I'm from NH and have had Employers Mutual Ins for years. The best rates I have found, but I haven't really looked in a few years but the chatting I've done confirms the rate I've got is still good.

I had a boat years ago, an old 18' mahogany Whirlwind rear cockpit ib/ob. Nice while I had it. I found it was a conflict of interest and maybe from neglect it seems someone thought they should own it more than me. I didn't have insurance on it, so needless to say, I don't have a boat any longer. But I do call my Ultra the Tuna Boat.

Far as kids, they'll love a ride on the bike. I now give my Grandson rides and 3 more grandsons are growing quickly to have a turn at bike rides themselves.

good luck on the ins.
talk again

Thanks all for the warm welcome. I'll be here often reading/lurking until I have more questions.

I found today that someone had rigged the dash lights/signal lights to sort of work! I ordered a new dash bracket with new bulbs and socket kit today from J&P. SHould be in next week.

I still need to add a sissy bar for the First Mate (Wife) and a windshield. $300 for a quick release sissy bar and pad attachment is nuts!
