What is a metric bike exactly?
Sorry in advance if there are threads on this already, but I wasn't able to find any.
I've been stumbling upon posts that mention, "metric bikes" and I havn't grasped the full meaning. Thanks.
Super Newbie.

Hey there HailSkatan, have you had any luck shopping around for your ride? Have you checked out the Iron 883? That thing is sick if you are thinking about a Sportster.
As mentioned above, "metric bikes" is a reference to any bike not American made, but is used most often as a derogatory term torwards Jap bikes, cruisers mostly. If they are talking about sport bikes, most people refer to them as "rockets".

Sup Deuce,
Been getting quite a lot of good info from your replies in topics i've been looking into. I really like the look of the iron, but I would like to get a used bike and since riding around on a 1200, I wouldn't want go any less. I have been looking at this bike a lot at a shop down the street from my house.
Nice talkin' to ya bud.

the term metrics was phrased over 40 yrs ago which referred to the nuts & bolts and most measurements used to assemble the bike where in millimeters, at that time mostly imports, and mostly from Japan...
