"Metric" is either diplomatic code or a defensive way of saying your bike is not a Harley - I haven't figured out which but prefer the second alternative if I think about it, which I don't.

Metric = using metric bolts and nuts. Mostly Jap bikes. Victory motorcycle falls into this category.

SAE = the best bikes. IMHO. Harley, BigDog, etc... 99% American

I could be wrong but USA AND British made bikes are not metrics. They Do, however, use metric parts. But "metric" refers to non-USA/British-made bikes. BTW, welcome!

This is actually the correct answer. It's just that there have been so few British MCs in recent memory people forgot. The old ones were Whitworth, by the way. Metric allows riders of what is otherwise called Jap Crp to feel good about themselves imho.

I have never explained why I chose the bike I have (Harley) but have had many people explain to me about their non-Harley. Go figger.
