The confidence thing comes with riding time. Have you taken the MSF course? Thats a great source of info which = confidence

Welcome from Indiana like others have said, take the MSFbasic rider course. The instructors here in Indy were very good with helping to build confidence and POP arrogance. They stopped some who professed to have been riding years and broke them back to the unskilled rider they were. They also tried, and with much success, to break some bad riding habits that I had developed while riding dirt bikes.

good luck and ride safe

Welcome from Indy! I ride an 05 Sportster. I have been riding about a year and am pretty confident now. It took me a few months of riding before I felt comfortable. You just have to get out there and ride. It helped me that my husband was always there with me. Made me feel better anyway.
