Howdy - new guy here in VA
Hi there. Just wanted to reach out and introduce myself to the forum. I'm relatively new to road bikes, but have been on dirt bikes throughout most of my youth down in South East Texas.
I live and work up here in South Riding, Virginia; just outside of Chantilly. I have a 2 year old son, and one on the way. My son is my pride and joy, and my absolute best buddy. I work in the Software industry, and have lived in this area for about 3 years. I'm a native Texan, born and raised.
I got the Harley bug at Myrtle Beach Bike week during May of last year, courtesy of my father-in-law. It was great. Having been on dirt bikes, I wasn't expecting anything near the thrill that it gave being out on the open road on a loud, heavy, powerful motorcycle; but boy was I pleasantly surprised.
A family friend was looking to sell his "baby", 2003 FXDL. He needed to take care of medical expenses, so I asked him what he needed. No haggling, just wrote the check and off I went to the DMV to get it registered, pay the taxes, and take the Motorcycle driving test. Not only was this the first time I had seen the bike in person, it was also the first time I had ridden it. Subsequently, I immediately failed the driving test, and was heart broken as I watched my father-in-law ride my newly acquired bike home.
Anyhow, that's how it began. I have been riding a lot all last summer, and sometimes this winter. I am absolutely hooked, and thoroughly enjoy it.
