Question Good Spark, Good Fuel, No Start

Old Rider with a new problem. Thought I might try here! Got a 98' FXDWG anniversary and it was running like crap so I changed all the fluids, plugs and wires but it still ran like crap. (backfiring, not idling at all when cold) In any case, I pulled the carb, cleaned the jets, the bowl, and the imultion tube out good and reassembled, also drained all fuel and refilled with super. Then I started her up still running like crap and got her warmed up all the way, then adjusted the idle and got rid of the backfiring bike was running like a top. Anyways, I didn't wan't her to clog up in case I didn't get back to her for a few days, so I shut off the petcock and ran her dry before shutting her down. Next day, I went out to see if she was gonna give me any problems, but this time to my surprise "nothing". She'll crank over good, shows 13 volts on the battery, has good spark and fuel, but won't even try to start, (not even a pop). Smelled gas after trying for a bit so I pulled the plugs, let the cylinders air out while I cleaned the plugs again and blew out the air cleaner, still good spark but when reassembled still wont start, choke - no choke no matter, by the way for any wise guys "THE KILL SWITCH AINT OFF" thats about it, so if anyone has a good idea I'd sure appreciate any input... Take care and remember "The shiny side goes up"
