It all depends on what your comfort level is. \\;\\\\\\; My first bike was a 750 and it served me well for quite a few years. \\;\\\\\\;
Personally I wonder if it is the rider that out grows a Sportster or their ego.
If you can, get a test ride and see how you feel on each bike. \\;\\\\\\; It won't be any fun if your not relaxed riding the bike.
