Default clutch and transmission

New to Harley and wondering why a dealer service may have caused the clutch to be much stiffer and the transmission to shift with more noise when&nbsp\\;I change gears.&nbsp\\; I was told by the dealer that I shuold not use synthetic oil in my 2003 fatboy because of a potential seal problem with leakage. I believe it had synthetic oil in it before I took it in for service. I'm the second owner of the bike and it only has 2000 miles on it but the clutch operated a lot easier before and the trans did not clunk.&nbsp\\; Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The syn advice does not seem to be correct. Post your question in the tech section, you'll get plenty of help. Welcome!

Dealer is wrong with the advice on syn.
&nbsp\\;
Why are dealers so down on syn. They must want engine and trans rebuilds.

Welcome, and as far as the syn, my opinion is dont use it. I have 2 freinds that are master techs and they know I do my own work(I own my own small shop) so I wont be bringing work to them, and they still say to stay away from the syn. they told me they are having more bikes come in with shifting problems and noises and wear&nbsp\\;than ever before and it is people that are using the syn. my .02

Welcome from Arizona.
&nbsp\\;
You might try using Redline in the trans.&nbsp\\; That may quiet down the shifting.&nbsp\\; I also changed the stock shift linkage for a new one with heim joints.&nbsp\\; That made a huge difference for me.
&nbsp\\;
For reduced clutch stiffness, I had great results with the VP clutch from AIM.&nbsp\\; I think they are forum sponsors\\; check out their great products if you want to upgrade.
&nbsp\\;
Remember: the purchase price on that hog was just a down payment on the custom bike you really want!
