Newbie from Pahrump Nevada
Hi all, I currently don't own a bike but if all goes well I'll be the proud owner of a new HD in November or December. I have owned two bikes in the past, the first was a 1967 Honda 450. In 1972 I bought 3 basket cases and made one good bike, I got my license in 1974 andhad a ball. Living in San Diego CA meant I had plenty of good weather for riding and I did a lot. In 1977 I bought a new Yamaha 650 and rode it until my brother totaled it in 1981. I never imagined not having a bike but marrige, kids, bills, and school left little of a young GIs budget for a bike so I did without. I retired from the Air Force, the kids are gone and I finally have the resources to buy a bike. I have narrowed my choices down to the Dyna Super Glide Custom, Dyna Low Rider and the Softail Custom. I almost bought a bike in the late 80's in Las Vegas but the dealer didn't want to deal so I walked. I feel the same way now, I really want a bike but I don't need a bike so if the dealer won't deal I'll go spend my money somewhere else. I live in Pahrump NV, about 60 miles out Vegas, we only have a Yamaha dealer in our town, so I have to go to Vegas, or Kingman to buy a new bike. I would buy a used but you never know how hard someone has been on their bike.
Anyways, I'm here to pick your brains and eventually share my new ride with you.

RE: Newbie from Pahrump Nevada
I don't need any convincing to buy a bike, I guess I need to find the one that fits me. \\; My wife and I plan on going to dealers and start looking at the different models, sittting on them and then taking a couple on a test drive. \\; \\;Our biggest hinderence is we only have Sundays off together and then there is the 1.5 hour drive to the closest dealer. \\; \\;Eventually we'll do all our looking and then I'll decide which bike I want and who to buy it from. \\; \\;I hope that I can get a decent deal on the purchase. \\; \\;I have one friend that got 1K off and the dealer threw in Screaming Eagle pipes and air cleaner along with mapping them for him.
