Default Potential new Harley rider

Hi all. I'm thinking about buying a Harley Sportster. It would be my first cruiser and second bike overall. I have owned a Sport-Touring Kawasaki in the past and am looking for something more comforable. I am also a little afraid of this bike being too heavy for me as I am a female and not very strong. I dropped my old bike a few times but I think it was because it did not have a very low center of gravity. Does anyone (especially females) have any tips on what it is like to ride this bike. Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi KrisRN and welcome to the forum. I would like to say, it's not about dropping your bike as much as getting it back up and riding.

Stick around, I'm sure the responses will be in your favor.

Welcome to the forums. The Sporty XL 833L , XL 833C, and XL 1200C I think have the lowest center of gravity of the line. You might, while you are here, want to check out the Sportster Models forums under Bikes for more info on them. But don't eliminate any of the other models just yet. Anyway, feel free to look around and do not be afraid to ask questions.

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

The Sportsters can be a little top heavy, but I know many of smaller stature that ride them. The Dyna series are equally nice bikes with a lower center of gravity...something to think about.

Glad you found us, and I'm sure others will chime in with more opinions...

Mac

Kris,

Welcome to the forums. I gave you my opinion about bike choice in the Sportster area.

Regards,

Welcome Kris, Im gathering from your post that you had a Concours? I dont think that a sporty would be more comfortable. My wife has a 04 883. The bike is somewhat top heavy, but is narrow, and with low profile shocks and a low profile seat you should find comfort with ground clearance. I would recommend some highway bars should you purchase one in case you drop it, it would keep the damage minimal. Enjoy the forum.
