Tallahassee says "Hello"
Just picked up my new 06 FLHT Standard. Love it. Been away from Harleys for about 15 years (last one was a 79 LowRider Shovel).
So heres my story:
Born and raised in Milwaukee. We were building Sportster motors in Jr High, and big twins in High School. Have friends and familey members that work for the MoCo. Anyway by my 30s I was "Harleyed out". I turned to sport bikes and sport tourers. My last one (havent sold it yet) is a 00 Kawasaki ZX-12R (bar risers, Corbin seat and beatle bags, pipe, map, etc). 183 hp at the rear wheel.
Well, I'm getting older now. I was also blessed with my first grand child last summer. Time to slow down and get back to my roots.
I'm now retired Air Force living in Tallahassee FL (great riding weather this time of year) and lovin it.
Its great to be back on a HD. My Standard won't be standard long, the transformation has already begun.
Thanks for listening (reading)
This is a great place
Ride safe and hard,

Welcome to the HDForum, Tallahassee. This is a GREAT place to talk the Harley language and meet some very interesting people. I am new to this place too with just a few hits to my credit. Man, you have just got what I want.... FLHT std. I 've got to know about that bike and what are your Feelings and First impressions. As you may already know or you will soon find out , that the 06 tour line, not all the time, but some have to be tweaked a bit in order for the motor to run RIGHT. This is due to a LEAN running condition that the EPA has put on the Company. Check out my THREAD in this Forum under The TOUR Bike Section titled "Harley-Davidson or Buyer...... Who is Responsible?" There has been over 50 replies and over a 1000 hits on that subject. And there is alot more on the subject has you will find out. This is NOT a hinderance to me and My efforts to Buy an 06 FLHT. did you get carb or FI? OH well enough for now, Take care of that GLIDE STD. and let us hear from you........ hdman

Thanks guys, it feels good to be "home".
hdman: I have a carb version. I have only 330 miles on it but it runs great. Idles nice, good power, no popping, sputtering, etc. Maby the problem is only with th fi bikes? I love the standard model, I call it my canvus, its black. Already put on the SG fairing mount mirrors, the 2 missing gadges, chrome here and there, and a Badlander seat. Also got the removable backrest. When the wife wants a ride the stock seat goes on with the backrest. If its just me backrest off, badlander seat on. Its like the best of both worlds.
I wouldn't let the lean issues scare you away from an 06, espically a carb bike. If it is too lean a fix is only a screw turn away.
Budds: Small world. Bike night at Hooters in Tally, North Monroe is a good time. Every Thursday 7:00pm until ? Lots of bikes. Ill be there with the black standard. Hope to meet you one night (sunny and mid 60s tomorrow)
Take care guys,
Hope to see ya on the road,
