Ya'll,
By way of introduction, I have been riding since 1971, and owned so many motorcycles I have lost count. I have ridden easily over 250,000 miles on motorcycles in my life. I have been rebuilding old Moto Guzzi's and BMW's for the last 10 years - and yet I have never owned a Harley. Well, that is about to change in the next week or so. I have found a great deal on a left-over '05 883.
I have a few questions. I am 6'2" and 230lbs. - I have sat on a stock 883 and the ergo's feel just fine. My plans are to make the following mods almost immediately: Stage I before it rolls out of the dealership, solo rack on the fender with a small mini rail sissy bar.
Will I be able to run 70 to 75 mph on the freeway in relative comfort as far as vibs are concerned? I will be adding a small windshield to help with the wind blast.
Any suggestions or observations would be welcomed.
IN addition, in a couple of years my "good woman" has promised me I can go and buy a new Road Glide - which is the bike I will have for my retirement years. My sportster will just "tide me over" until then. Although I expect I will like so much I will keep it too.
