New to HD - 20 year rider

It seems like when I was a kid in my 20's riding my $500 beater(s), I always longed for the HD experience. The bike ~ the sound. I vowed that one day I'd have enough cash to get me one. A few years back, I bought a new Suzuki SV650S. Great little crotch rocket with a V-twin. Great, until I rode too far outta my talent and into a 6' concrete wall at 35MPH. Got pretty battered up, but the EMT's/ER docs were amazed nothing got broken - except my pride and ego. GOOD. My wife bent down next to me while I lay on the ground and whispered in my ear, "I bet those cruiser bikes look a lot better now, don't they". I laughed best I could, and 2 weeks later rode a Suzuki M50 Black off the dealer floor. I loved that bike. My first cruiser, but still not a Harley. I tried, man - oh, how I tried. My car payment goes away in a few months, so I had been looking at a custom chopper being built. A pretty hard tail with a 100" RevTech. I was smitten with that style, but wondered aboutthe road trips I like taking on my time off. I saved the dealer/picture of the bike on my favorites in Explorer. That is, until I visited a Harley dealer in northern DFW. I was in Dallas for 3 weeks for training on a new jet to fly - and a nice pay raise to boot. I threw a leg over a few of the bikes and knew that when I got home, I'd have to take one for a demo. The idea of a hard tail slipped slowly out of my head. I knew the Street Bob was a style I liked. Old school looks and a lot of room to work with. I went to the dealer, looked at the bikes and took a ride a couple days later. I was sold before 2nd gear. I brought the wife up to look at a couple - the Night Train and the Bob. After sitting on each a few times, she smiled as I sat on the Bob. "Now, that's you", she said.

I was able to check off one of those boxes that we make in life. Buy a Harley before 40. And I did so with 3 months to go.
