Welcome from Houston, TX...I also recently bought a 2008 Nightster and love it...the first thing I bought was a set of black forward controls since the mid mounts did not fit my riding style. During the break in period (1000 miles) the shifts points should be:
1-2: 15mph
2-3: 25mph
3-4: 35mph
4-5: 45mph
I prefer: 20, 30, 40, 50
You can install a tack if you want...H-D sells the kits
