6 speed 96 cubic inches
I was just wondering; Do the new 96 cubic inch engines with the 6 speeds have problems with overheating? I had heard that they did. Can anyone answer this question for me. I have an 02 Twin cam 88 engine and haven't had any problems whatsoever. Also, are the new 96 cubic engines filled with a bunch of emission controlls inside of it? If so, does this make it a better engine than the Twin Cam 88.

RE: 6 speed 96 cubic inches
Welcome aboard. I'm new to this forum, but did a lot of research before buying my '07 96TC Wide Glide. I don't believe the new engines overheat, they just run hotter than earlier models. Very noticeably hotter. Harley had to do something to get the emissions up to EPA requirements. Just won't be able to do that with a carb. Welcome to life in the 2000's. I got mine because the fuel injection computer can be modified or completely changed out with some great aftermarket stuff that let's you tune it better than you could any carb and get the temp down. Also, I like the overall changes that were made for the 96TCs. I think it's going to be a great step in the HD engine family. Us HD folks haven't put enough miles on the new engines to give a real life report card yet, but I think it'll be a good one.
You can browse through this forum and get a lot of info from other folks. I am still putting miles on mine while it's under warranty to make sure I chase out any built-in gremlins. So far I love mine.
