New (to me) Road King owner and forum member

Welcome from Spartan Country, Michigan!
I tell a lot of new comers to the forum to get: Factory Service manual and the Parts manual. Get a three ring binder and record all your maintenance, repairs, accessories, etc. This will be a great reminder of what was done when. And great material to pass along to the new owner should you sell and upgrade. Also know how large your fuel tank is, a rough idea of your range per tank, and record your fuel usage. I have an app called Simply Auto that I record all my fuel used. I use the odometer and use the fuel gage as reference only. I reset the odometer to zero on fill ups, and I know I can safely get 200 miles on a tank on around town riding, and upwards of 230+ on trips.
Good Luck!!

Hi all,
Happy to be here! Finally got my Road King after several years of dreaming and saving. Bought it last year, it was a super find in my book. It is a 2011 Classic with only 3500 miles in impeccable condition.
Very rare light blue color- sorry the actual name escapes me right now!
I've added a bunch of chrome, taller bars, LED's front and back (not the headlight yet) hard extended bags and I'm now looking for a tan or brown seat.
The forum has been very helpful. I'm one who tries to search and find info without posting questions first, and there is a TON of great info here.
The bike supposedly has the Stage one tuning but I don't think it was done right. Seems to pop too much at slower cruise speeds- 35-45 through the woods and back roads. I expect it a little on deceleration but not at constant throttle. I'm going to have a tuner who did a neighbor's bike take a look.
I had a Suzuki Intruder in the early 90's when it was just me and the new bride in the San Francisco area, which is a great area to ride. Sold it after a year or so, moved back East and started having kids. Finally grabbed another small cruiser 4 years ago- a 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan classic- to get back to riding, and forgot how much I enjoyed it. Found the RK last Spring and I am thrilled with it, it is so much better of a machine! I am a little nervous about putting the wife on the back yet though. It is a lot heavier and I want to get more comfortable at low speeds and starting from stop at a turn before adding the extra weight. She is a good passenger, we rode a lot back in the day, but I'm still uneasy. I'll probably take an advanced safety course this year.
OK, enough about me. Thanks again for the great forum, hopefully I'll be able to contribute something useful at some point!

When you ride a Road King, you will be a King of the Road. It is an apt name and your feeling riding it is justified. Until 1966, all FL’s from 1941 have been king of the Road bikes, Hydra, Duo, and Electra-glides were prior to fairings. Oh Harley offered a canvas protection earlier, but they were an add on and take off.
In 1983 I think, Harley introduced the Electric glide sport, FLHS, with the king of the road getting the Road King mo****r in 1994.
Your bike has a long and lustrous history. Enjoy.

Welcome from North Beach, FL., USA!
Just in case you have not done this.
Add a Signature Line in your USER set up for your bike year, model, and all the letters that Harley recognizes it with so others see at the bottom of all your post. This enables others to know your exact model if you ever ask a question.
And an Avatar of your favorite shot in the USER set up for the small picture others will see in the top left corner of your post.
Your all set.... Enjoy the ride! ______________
