Default New Street Rod Owner from Los Angeles

Hi everyone,

My name is Jose Luis and I bought myself a Christmas present (2017 Street Rod). It is my 4th motorcycle and I have been riding for 12 years. I started in 2006 when I was in college on a chinese model, Tank Sports 250cc and eventually bought a 2010 Honda Shadow Phantom. Then I traded the Honda in for a 2015 Kawasaki Vulcan S and now I decided to add to my garage when I saw a demo bike on sale. My brother rides a 2013 Harley Fat Boy and kept pressuring me to give Harley-Davidson a try. I've ridden his which I did not enjoy and a few V-Rods which I did enjoy but were too pricey for me. When they announced the Street Rod back in 2016 for the 17 model I was interested but it seemed expensive for the specifications provided. I liked it though and all the reviews I read about it were mostly good so when I saw one on sale for a price I felt comfortable with it was a no brainer purchase for me. So far I have put 400 miles on it in the first few weeks of ownership and I enjoy it. I was surprised how comfortable it is for me and my body type (5'9" - 172 lbs - muscular build) especially after sitting on it at the dealer where it did not feel comfortable. But after a test ride I was convinced. On my first ride home from the dealership (100 miles away) I felt more comfortable on it than I did on my Kawasaki Vulcan S for a long ride. The seat is much better despite the complaints I read about online. I dislike that neutral is hard to find and I dislike that when I am waiting at a red light the heat is discomforting and although I love the mirrors for being at the end and providing a great rear view I dislike that they make my ride wider and limits my lane splitting here in L.A. in certain areas. Overall, I love this bike for being relatively light and nimble and for the liquid cooling I have been waiting for Harley to make.

G'day mate,

welcome to HDF.

I will be your tour guide. Be sure to read the manual before posting ok mate?

Or we will have discipline you and if you don't "get it" we will need to discipline you biker style.

Now, for your orientation. Go down the hall on your left to the 1st room. No, wait. That is where Izzo interviews the gals. The 1st room on your right. That is where the commissary is.

Then you will see doors marked for the mortuary, skeet shooting, a room where we make fun of In-Jun bikes, and of course we have a ahh, umm, oh yeah a across the hall.

We had a BOMB MAKING room but, well, ahhhhh, 1 of the guys just didn't understand Blasting Caps very well so..... you know.

We have our own pub .

There are several places where you can familiarize your self with the .

So don't be a wall flower watching others . Get involved.

See you around mate. I am going to the commissary now.

**** ON THE SERIOUS SIDE ****

**** I AM NOT ONE TO GIVE ADVICE ON HOW HDF WORKS BUT… ****
**** AND THE FOLLOWING IS UNOFFICIAL ****

You are in the “New Members Area” where you can introduce yourself and let us know what Harley Davidson bike(s) (if any) you ride/own.

If you have questions about engines, exhaust systems, audio issues, etc… then:

1) Please go to the upper corner and Roll Over “Forums

2) Then come down to and Roll Over “Harley Davidson Tech & Mechanical Forum

3) Then come down to the section that would be most appropriate for your question like Audio Systems, Engine Mechanical Topics, Exhaust System Topics, etc… and CLICK on the topic you have a question about.

You will find the knowledge here is EXCELLENT and these here mates are willing to help you in any way they can. ‘juss be careful. There are some “Trolls”, so I suggest just ignoring them ‘ole farts.

See you around HDF. Come often, we have a humor thread, game thread, and a LOT of other stuff.

Have A Great Day Mate,

BuzzCap7
