Bent rear 25mm Axle Sportster Nightster 2009 - Spacers ID 1''?
#1
Hi, New to the forum, from San Diego, CA!
Hi guys,
First post here. I bought My first Sportster nighster 2009 1200 with laced wheels. Originally I only have ridden Dirt bikes and still doing so but I have always wanted a Harley. Now I could buy one (used) and I'm pretty happy with it!
greetings to all from San Diego California!!!
(sorry for the below info! im new here oops!)
16x3 with 25mm rear axle.
I’m having trouble to figure out what happen to my rear axle. Apparently, at first sight you could see the wheel out of true, So I tighten the spokes, while the tire was still in the bike, but still the problem was showing. So, I removed the wheel and upon taking the axle out I found out that it was bent on the right side (just after the bearings) where the spacers are. So I bought the new one but I didn’t want it to get it install since I still had the out of true Issue. So, disassembled the pulley and disk. Bought a balancer and truing stand but the tire was what I believe bent. Anyways, my first though was that the tire was out of true. And sent it to Buchanan’s Spokes and rims. To get it align. I didn’t had the patience to tighten the spokes nor couldn’t. I stripped out 3 of them.
So, My question for all of you more experienced guys out theres is:
I will post a pic of the axle as soon as I get home.
I've been looking for some info on this regarding the ID dimension on spacers for the 2009 Nightster but no luck. hope any of you could help me out.

- Have you ever had a bent 25mm rear axle? What causes it, probably under tight nut? Or the spacer internal diameters being bigger? I dimension both sides with the caliper and it shows 1”. I have looked up on Drag and specialties shop online and seems that the 1” is the replacement spacer on rear wheels for the Nightster. But I still have doubt about it. Should the spacers have to be same diameter as the axle and bearings (25mm)?
I will post a pic of the axle as soon as I get home.

If you have questions about engines, exhaust systems, audio issues, etc… then:
1) Please go to the upper corner and Roll Over “Forums”
2) Then come down to and Roll Over “Harley Davidson Tech & Mechanical Forum”
3) Then come down to the section that would be most appropriate for your question like Audio Systems, Engine Mechanical Topics, Exhaust System Topics, etc… and CLICK on the topic you have a question about.
You will find the knowledge here is EXCELLENT and these here mates are willing to help you in any way they can. ‘juss be careful. There are some “Trolls”, so I suggest just ignoring them ‘ole farts.
