Welcome Sassy,
Newbie to the site myself. I've been riding for a year and have 5k under my belt now. Bought a 1200 Sporty but leaned it over in my driveway and got really scared of the weight. Knew I couldn't pick it up if I dropped it. So we found a used Honda Rebel I took to a parking lot. Its the way I learned to drive a car when I was 16 and then a stick shift 4 years later. Got the feel for the clutch and throttle by going the legnth of the lot. Then went spot to spot for braking and downshifting. In about 2 hours felt comfortable on the little bike. Then knew more about what todo on the Sporty. Took my riders class which was on 250cc and pass and off I went. Traded the Sporty in for a Dyna Glide because I wasn't happy with the feel of the Sporty on long rides.
Now I ride every chance I can. You will get better if you want too. Its always about learning and getting better.

Welcome to the Forum and to riding. Keep at it, you will get it. No one here got on a bike and was a pro overnight. I takes seat time and practice.
