New guy, bought a basket case 1989 Sportster 883 'hugger' it aint anymore. Guy had a basket full of parts. Said he wanted to make a cafe racer. He had a rake fork set to go with it. As well as hard tailed struts instead of shocks. He chopped up the wiring harness, it is still rigged with ac cord and speaker wire (but it friggin works) I had previously had a Yamaha XS1100, Yamaha Virago 750 (fixed the damn starter should've kept it after that), Kawasaki 750 (gave up), Honda cb650sv (gave up) still have my Honda cbr1000f trike project (in stasis). On the Harley 883 I removed the hard tail struts I had no shocks so I canabilized the cb650 shocks (made them fit) had a Kawasaki speedo (made it fit) removed the wide glide forks he had on it (they just did not fit right) added the Raked forks and handlebars I had in a box of parts, the old virago windshield (I kept before selling the bike), new tires front and back, clutch pack (needed help from a shop to remove) oil changed, tranny still drips ( I mark my spot everywhere I go, I keep gear oil with me) I added a back rest for the wife so she wouldn't fall off, she still dont like it.... boooo. turn up carb (ok I ran cleaner through it, it still coughs when cold) changed my air breather to one with a larger open hole on the bottom. Fixed the brake lights (manual button now till I fill the brake switch) added an LED tail light. it is a Frankenbike, buddy named it Lurch. It runs and rides. Had to buy some mufflers (cause it was too loud said the cop he still aint happy but it looks legal). it is long and lean and I am big, old and fat, I look like a gorilla riding a childs occ bicycle. But I put it together and most of it is USA made. AND i get 50 mpg most of the time
