Old Fart still puttin'
I'm an old scooter dude. My first Harley was a 47 knuckle (what we called in that day) fatbob. Which just meant that it had all the bags and crap removed. That was about 73 or 4 .... Alzheimer's ... can't remember exact year but was early 70's. I paid $650 ... well actually $647.00 for it, as the guy wanted 650 firm, which I had to borrow $5 bucks from my buddy that took me to look at it.to make the $650, so I handed him the full 650, turned to walk away and get on the scooter, but thought wonder if it has gas in it? So I turned and asked him about the amount of gas in the tank and if it would get me home, and he handed me back $3 and said here dammit! LOL And I rode that old crap brown dude home. Loved that scooter. I read one thread on here that talked about growing up in a MC family or not. Well, I didn't, as when I was 16 I found an old 74" Indian that was just the frame, engine, and wheels that ran for $50 bucks, so I hurried home and told Dad I wanted a motorcycle. He said not only no, but hell no! LOL still regret not being able to pick that one up. My most recent scooter, before the one I bought today, was an FXDL 88" which I lost due to a COW (crazy old woman)! that had me singing that line from that George Straight song "She had the law looking for me". LOL But that turned out ok for me, except I lost the bike, but I did get rid of her as well, so the trade off, even though it was uneven, was not a bad as it could have been, she could have wanted to stay! So today I picked up a 2002 FXDP that, again, as us old farts said back in the day, a fat bob! So looking forward to exchanging some humorous stories as well as give/receive some technical info. Keep it in the wind! Billy Bubba8it
