I would recommend taking a motorcycle safety course in your area. Where I live they are handled through community colleges and such. Some insurance companies will give you a discount if you have taken the course and passing means you can get your license without taking the DMV course.

Without a doubt, a motorcycle safety course is a must. You'll learn more in one weekend than you will the first year you ride. Then, rent a bike for a couple weekends to see if it is something you really like. Good luck to you beachhead and keep the rubber side down.

The dealer can let you know about riding classes. You'll need to get a motorcyle license. Some folks start out with a 1200, and then after getting some skills wish they had bought a Dyna. Good luck on your quest. But remember, Harleys are expensive, all the way around.
