Hello from east Tennessee
Hey hey hey, sorry did I sound like Fat Albert?
I just turned 72 a few days ago. I bought my first Harley in 1981. In 2012 about two years after retiring, I finally got to take a ride I had been thinking about for years. I did a 4000 mile solo ride over 14 days with no itinerary. I did have a couple of places I wanted to see. The route did not matter. I have to tell you, it was one of the most exhilarating things of my life.
A few months after the trip, I realized I wasn't riding anymore. It was like I had done it all. The thrill was gone. I sold my road bike not long after that and started to spend more and more time in my recliner.
Sometime close to a year ago I found out I had stage 4 throat cancer. My first thought was, "Hell, I've already lived a lot longer that I ever thought I would." Then thoughts went all over the place.
Chemo and radiation treatments followed. Sometime during all that I said that if I ever got a clean bill of health I might just buy me a new Harley and go for another good ride. The wife said something like, "If you do, It will be a three wheeler."
We are the proud owners of a 2017 Tri Glide.
Thanks for reading if you are still here.
