Bought my first Bike ever, waiting for my class

School parking lots on the weekends, or the mall early on Sunday morning. Slow speed turns and stopping. Learn your clutch. Go over the exercises you did in class. Then get out on roads without much traffic and get it up to speed.
Engine guards and don't get overly upset when/if you drop it.

Welcome from Central Wisconsin. Don't wear those cowboy boots on the bike, unless they have good traction, like a Vibram sole. Especially if you can hardly flatfoot.
And I know they aren't cool, but buy a full face helmet, for your first couple of years, until you gain more experience.

Welcome to the forum..I highly recommend buying viewing "ride like a pro 5" It explains a lot about friction zone, head and eyes, and rear braking. I have been trying to go to a class also.

A Big Welcome from rainy Vancouver BC!!! I bought a 04 Sporty with a 1200 a couple of years ago, sure love it more than my 84 Yamaha Virago. Cornering at speed and countersteering was my problem, lucky you have an experienced rider by your side to lead you in the right direction. Nice bike, always great to have some nice saddlebags to stow your gear. Dave
