Hey Riders, Im new from Pa .

Lots of us had a Sporty to start with... KEY word is --"HAD one" ---
IMO --It's a good bike for someone that's not to tall and doesn't weigh much more than you did in HS.. and for taking a 3 hr ride, Well it's not for everyone on that bike, but some do.
Take your time, ride some different bike and DON'T rush your pick...

Hi Neighbor! Welcome aboard. 883's way too small for you. You'll outgrow it within weeks. Go for a nice used Heritage Soft Tail or a Fat Boy. The day before my safety course (and never having ridden before) my nephew put me on his Yamaha Road Star to let me see if I liked riding. At the time, it was too big, and I was a little afraid of it. His buddy had a Fat Boy, and I couldn't believe how much more manageable it was. Another buddy had a Heritage Soft Tail. Same thing --- manageable for a 1st bike. If you wanna make sure you really like riding, and wanna spend a little less money to find out, and get some confidence, you can't go wrong with a Yamaha V Star 1100 or 1300 for a 1st bike either. My 1st bike was a Suzuki Intruder 800 --- alot like a Sportster. Once I got confident (notice I didn't say experienced!) then I outgrew it in about 6 weeks, and went V Star 1100. That was 12 or 13 years ago. I'm now on a big 'ol Limited Ultra. Go bigger than a Sportster to start with. You'll be glad you did, and you won't have to find out the hard way that you wish you'd have done that in the 1st place. Have fun!
