Long time rider, but this is my first Harley
Hey,
I'm Paul, I bought my first bike back in 2002. A Suzuki SV-650s V-twin crotch rocket and that's what I learned to ride on while I was in the Navy. Put a lot of miles on her but then in Oct of 2004 another sailor was driving drunk and decided to plow into me head on. I was pretty banged up to say the least, almost didn't pull through, but like a roach I stuck in there. After recovering I got myself an 06 Yamaha YZF-R1. A liter super bike. God damned was that thing fast.
But once again my luck with bikes struck and it was stolen out of my driveway in 2009. My wife and I had just had our first child and were realizing how expensive kids were so I decided to use the insurance money to help make ends meet.
Fast forward to this February when I was in the market for a vehicle and spotted a 2003 Heritage Softail Classic for sale near me. The reason this stuck out is that my Grandpa Jack had the very same style bike. He's the biker from my childhood that started my love of two wheels. Well sadly he passed a few years ago but my uncle now owns the Softail and he let me take it out for a ride. I knew that my crotch rocket days were behind me after that and so seeing the one for sale in the OBX I knew I wanted it and my wife told me "you have to."
So far I've only got just under 3K miles on it and have done one road trip up to DC with my wife. Looking forward to many more. Especially once my wife gets her own.
