Wanted: Rear heat shield for 99 Sporty 883 stock exhaust.
Just want to check and see if anyone has a rear heat shield in good shape for my 99 Sporty. I only need the rear shield. If anyone has one, I sure would appreciate it and will send money order ASAP.
Thanx, RD

Just want to check and see if anyone has any chrome stock exhaust for my 99 sporty 883. These aftermarket drag pipes are not what I need, and stock pipes would be just fine.
What model pipes will interchange with a 99 883 sporty? I saw a "brand new" set of stock pipes in a local trader paper for 100 bux, but they were for 2002, I believe.
Thanx, R Dowdy

The exhaust should interchange 1991-2003, except for the 883R 2-into-1 will not fit bikes with forward controls like those on a Custom.
I may have a set, if I do I'll snap some pics. They may have the baffles altered, not too loud, deep sound (*usually not offensive to neighbors), but good back pressure. Is your bike stock or has it been altered? I would put in a 45 pilot jet if its cold natured or has a stumble, besides the one caused by the drag pipes.
By the way, the 1340cc / 80 ci motor did not debut until 1979, but the wiring is pretty standard on the FL's...

The electric problem is for my cousin, he asked me to get him a diagram. I dont' know the details of his trouble, but I appreciate it!

Here is a link for pics of the stock sets I have. I have two sets, one with heat shields and opened up mufflers, one with out heat sheilds and two sets of un cut mufflers, one set of which has some etching, looks like battery acid, and some scuffs and dried masking tape that held them together. The other uncut set is dirty, but the chrome looked okay after a light pass with 0000 steel wool.

Set with cut mufflers and heat shields $175
Set without heat shields and uncut mufflers with scuffs/etching $100 and $40 for the clean uncut mufflers.
You might hit a local swap meet and find some for the same or less $$$. You might also look at some baffles that could be slid into your existing pipes.

Today I bought a set of used (but great condition!) stock exhaust. I have already installed it, and it sounds great! I need the rear heat shield though. I am going to close this thread and start another one just for the heat shields.
Thanx for the offer though. I only paid $100 for the whole set, and it included heat shields. The rear one fell out of my saddle bag somehow and got fubared.
Thankx again, RD,
