If you can find a set Buell lightning or thunderstorm heads, they are incredible on sportsters. Literally you can gain around 15 to 20hp just by putting buell heads on, a mikuni doesn't hurt either. I had an 01 X1 Lightning(best harley I ever owned) and at that time the Buell race bikes were running mikuni's because the fi was garbage down low where the bike made the most torque. That bike with a sportster based motor and race kit was right around 100hp, it was a monster.

I don't have a set lying around but I'll put out some feelers. If i can find a pair I'll let you know.

 

thanks for the input, i am very well versed in ho to build a hot rod//fast sportster. i just dont have any more heads laying around, the newer 04-06 carbed head castings are even better than the thunderstorm heads. lighting and dual plug heads are ok, but not as good. In order to get the emprovements you speak of though, the correct pistons need to be used in conjunction with the heads in order to get the nice squish band. stock sportster pistons do not have the machine work that the buell pistons do.

Please look around for me and let me know what turns up, for the right price i have options.
