Default Anyone doing multi-day rides on a v-rod?

was hoping to see a community of v-rod riders... I'm coming from a sportbike world and looking for something I can tolerate a day of riding on (without my back reminding me that I did it). Still wanting an agile feel though. Not to mention I like the looks and appreciate the different sound of the bike compared to other Harleys (only experience through video... but hoping to test ride one soon).

I'm curious if any v-rod riders are doing long... even multi-day rides and how they're feeling at the end of the trip.

Yeah bro the v-rod fits like a glove! You may want to change the grips out for some comfortable ones, but other than that she's ready to go. I've made all day rides and I'm not hurting when I'm done. And by the way I'm 45 and it's still comfortable to me.

Heading to Sturgis for 3 weeks on the Vrod bagger. Been going 20 years this year. the 7th year for the vrod. The Ultra sits in the corner of the garage. Only rode it 800 miles since I finished the Road Rod conversion June of 06. All my riding is multiple day rides. Oh yea for got to mention all my riding is 2 up with the wife.

For normal size people it can be done, but if you're a big guy, forget it!

Thanks for the input. I'm an average sized guy so wouldn't be worried about being to big. I'm also glad to here someone is riding two up, my wife likes the occasional day ride. This is exciting. It pleases me when the answers come in the way I hoped they would!

You might need to change the holds out for some agreeable ones, yet other than that she's primed to go.

I'm 6'/220 and frequently take long day rides (150-200mi). The summer before last I did a six state, 725mi ride over 3 days and was fine. The only thing I get is a cramp in my left trap. I swapped out the stock drags on my '09 NRS for 10" Z-Bars and it helps. 2 months ago I did a 400 mile, 2 day trip and it was better. Today I plan on hitting the road within an hour or so and racking up another 200 or so. I really need to do a valve lash!!

I've only done rides on the 12 NRS of 150 to 180 miles. I do plan on taking it on a 2K round trip to Sturgis next year.

I did that on my 11 XL1200 this year. Did the 861 miles from my house to Sturgis in 13 hours. Did the same on the return.

I'm 6'3" and 220 lbs. The NRS is more comfortable than the XL. Oh! I'm only 73 so I try to do the long rides before I get too old to do it.

A guy that works for me rides from Virginia to Florida(and Myrtle Beach) for bike week the past 2 years, only stopping for gas. His has been modified and pushing 160 hp. He has also won several bike shows with it and its supposed to be in an upcoming Snap-On Tools calendar next year:
