Aren't tires supposed to be round? I think you mean it has a nice aspect ratio.

Well I have the 240 tire and I'm 5'9" 245 lbs, so in my case I have more *** to move and I lose about 5-8% horsepower.

While the preceding is an older post, can notenow after getting some miles on a 240 can hardly tell a difference on all kinds of roads here. I would be hard pressed to know what width tire I'd haveon the rear while going through a Colorado canyon. Given I don't delight in taking the bike above 120mph on public roads, the slight loss in HP isn't a matter, nor is it noticeable versus the VRSCA I used to ride.

 

I spent quite a bit of time on a NR Special. The bike does not handle as well ( in the twisties) as my Street Bob ( with a 180) or my 1200C. The combo of the 240 and the rake make it less fun in the curves. On the frwy or around town its fine.

Last Thursday ( March 1) I was test riding both '06 and '07 .
The '06 had the 180 the '07 had the 240.

We had a stiff breeze blowing that day. Gusts up to 35mph.

That wind made my mind up for me.

The 180 would wobble in the side wind.

I never had a single wobble from the 240.

I bought the '07 that day. Largely due to its handeling... and its 5 gallon tank.

I have an 04 VRSC with the 180 tire set up. I really would like a wider tire for looks. Does anyone know what the widest rear tire is that I can put on the back wheel without modification to the bike? I really appriciate the help. Thanks

 

the 240 will not handle as good as a 180, but..... it all depends on how you ride. the other thing is if you buy 08 you have no choice.but to get used to it.
