Default Is this a good deal?

So I'm about to pull the trigger this off season on what would be my first bike. A guy I work with has a 2006 V-Rod VRSCA with 1500 miles on it. He said I can buy it for $8000.

I seem to see a lot of V-Rod for sale lately and most of them are going anywhere from $8000 to $11000 depending. My question is, is this a deal I shouldn't pass on or is the average going rate for a 2006 V-Rod. Should I throw a lower offer, or is that insulting? Like I said I do work with the guy so I don't want to insult him either.

KBB shows trade in value is around $7350 and retail is $10000.

Thanks inadvance for the info.

I think anytime you can buy close to KBB trade in value...you are doing pretty good. I'd check Craigslist in your area to get a feel for what similar bikes are going for also. I'd pay a little more for a bike if you know the owner and history of the bike. Good luck!

Good point, since this will be my first bike ever, I was only going to buy from a dealer weather it was new or used. The reason for a dealer purchase is because I don't know enough about the bikes yet to know what to look for. But I know this guy barely rode it and he is the only owner.

Thanks again.

Sounds like a good enough deal to me. You might want to look into a riding class before hitting the road with it.

I took the MSF course back in August and received my license through that. I was able to take a 2011 Night Rod out this past weekend for a demo ride, which is what made me think about buying one. As I was telling the guys at work, that is when he mentioned he had his for sale.

I'd go for it. $8,000 is a deal.

That is a very good price, considering the year and mileage. Have it looked over by the local HD dealer, but if nothing major is wrong, the $8,000 is more than fair. And a pretty good deal. That bike would command at least another $1k here in Southern Colorado.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to make the buy. I giving him a small down payment to hold it, which he is okay with.

See my new thread. I would say that is a great deal. I would jump on it like a duck on a june bug. if I was looking to buy a v-Rod. I think I would do it even if I was not looking for one.
