They also pop the front up everytime you hit it. That's why ninety-nine times out of one-hundred the heavier and slightly less powerful V-Rod will beat any one of those bikes street-light to street-light, and why most "nine second bikes" run between 12 and 13 seconds with you typical rider on them.
Can't argue with that, cause it does take some skill to rapidly launch a light weight V-Twin; really I'm just sayin that I think it is unfortunate that the MoCo has been unable to successfully market really capable under 600 lb canyon carvers in the U.S. Got to hand it to them for trying with the XR1200 after the flop of the, again, magnificent Street Rod. Unfortunate timing with the economy; let alone the average US Harley customer.
I love my VRSCD with mid controls, i'm a shorter rider... 5-6 and I can reach everything well. The mids are great for cornering and city riding but I can also kick my feet out on the highway pegs when I want to chill out. best of both worlds IMO.
Don't forget that V Rods are cruisers. I have the 2011F. I am 5'8". For a long trips that I do all the time, I wish two things if HD is listening and care. The riser on the F should come up about 1" and back just a little. Maybe back the Forward controls up a couple of inches. I can ride all day. Oh, gel seat is a must. Other than that the Muscle is a serious cruiser. As far as the weight goes, for what I use it for, any lighter would be too dangerous. Have you ever had 3 Semi trucks ganged up on you? Not fun. Need weight to be a nice cruiser.
