Default Exhaust question

My son has an 09 Muscle and he only wants to change the pipes. Going with the 2 into 1 from v and h. Does he have to change the filter and fuel management? Was told if he were to just change pipes he doesn't have to do anything else. Just want to make sure Thanks Ray

vrod comes just as lean from the factory as any of the air cooled models. Get a K&N filter and a fuelpak it will run so much stronger for under $300.

I have the same bike, changed the stock mufflers to V&H (only option I had at the time for just mufflers) . . . increased the volume from the pipes significantly and my seat of the pants dyno says it has a little more get up and go . . . my $0.02 . . . .

Ihave a 2006 Street Rod and install this V&H exhaust. I added a power commander fuel mgt and changed to the SE Air Filter. Definite improvement. May look at an AMSoil or K&N. Definitely recommend the Fuel mgmt.

well i have a 2007 hd night rod special...i change out mind with cfr exhaust 2 to 1(slip on)...and the K & n filter...but i noticed when i just changed the exhuast out the bike needed to be tuned...and i guess really depends on what exhaust your son wants to do...

Yes.

If it were just slip-ons you'd be fine, but going to a shortened, open 2>1 you need a fuel management system, so you might as well spend a couple extra $$$ and get a high-flow filter.

V&H has a powerpack, and also has maps you can download for the Race Tuner and PCs, so you don't have to get it dynoed.
